Stimulating drug repurposing

In 2012, ZonMw commissioned the report titled “Stimulating Drug Rediscovery: Towards a Marketing Authorization for New Applications of Existing Medicines.” In 2023, Exon Consultancy collaborated with Utrecht University and Brabers to provide a refreshed perspective on drug rediscovery (also known as drug repurposing) in the Netherlands. The updated report reflects on a decade of significant changes in the field, and expanded on new themes such as pandemic preparedness and paediatric applications.

The report aims to inform and guide future strategies of drug rediscovery and will hopefully be as foundational for future discussions as its predecessor.
